Colton's Blessing

Colton's blessing was on Sunday, April 14th, 2013. We felt so loved and blessed that so many of our family came to support us. In the blessing circle was Brian (who blessed him) my dad, grandpa, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. It still brings a tear to my eye thinking about seeing all the great men in my life gathered around my newborn to bless him that he will be a light in others lives and stand with his brother in the fight for good. I love my family so much, and I love my husband and sons. Life is so great right now, I swear these baby hormones have made me love everyone and everything in my life that much more, I feel so blessed. The white blanket Colton is wrapped in in some of the pictures is the same blanket Jackson was blessed in and was made by my grandma. I know she and my mom were there that day, I just wished they could've been there in person to hug and kiss him. The outfit was the same one Jackson was blessed in. Colton was an angel during the blessing and didn't make a peep. Jackson, on the other hand, pooped during his blessing and almost ruined the outfit. Thank goodness for dry cleaning :)

Some Favorites

This is a before and after of Jackson's haircut. The above is the before and below is after. He's a handsome boy even with crazy long dorky hair :)

Apparently its cold in other places, but here in Arizona this is how we've been spending our March and April: Sitting by the pool, Brian putting out the vibes...

Colton turned 2 months so we had a little mini photoshoot and here's my favorite of our sweet boy!

Mima came for a week when he was 2 weeks old to help out

And of course we started potty training... One month into it he rarely has any accidents but has yet to poop in the potty. And yes, we realize that's not a good thing. Needless to say we've cleaned up poop in the bathtub, in his underwear, in his diapers during naps, and right NEXT to the potty. Oh the joys of two year olds...

Jackson is obsessed with my phone. Here he is supposed to be coloring and instead watching a TV show on my phone. Silly kid

Real artists paint in the buff. I think it makes him feel free as he lets his creativity run free.

Here are my handsome boys the day Brian found out he was getting his internship at SRP. I'm SO proud of him!!

Easter 2013

Warning: Most of these images are not edited. And the few that are are just some simple color corrections. As a photographer some of the white balances make me cringe but I'm behind on blogging and didn't have time to edit all :)

This year was a great Easter, it was Colton's first and Jackson's first that he might remember. I hadn't done an Easter basket for him the last couple years because one certain member of my family (cough cough) doesn't like spending money on big fancy baskets when the kid doesn't even realize whats going on. And I get it, but part of me saw pictures of all the other moms making elaborate baskets for their babies and felt a twinge of guilt.

But I got over it.

So this year I didn't go crazy or anything but I at least got him a train themed basket. I bought a $2 Easter basket from Target (in comparison to the $10 Elmo one I was tempted to buy) and got some Thomas the Train things because Jackson LOVES Thomas! The trains are just generic trains because apparently people will buy an actual Thomas the Train for $13 a pop (yikes!) and these bad boys were only $3.

Do you think I'm the cheapest person in the world yet?

Well I probably am, but I know Brian loves it :)

We went to my sister Michelle's in law's place and had a beautiful dinner outside. It was perfect weather, warm with a slight breeze, and as I sat out there I thought, "I could live in Arizona if I had a place like this." It had a huge front and back yard and only two neighbors. All I've basically seen of Arizona are large communities of houses squeezed in together, but as a child I loved running around in the front and back yard, roaming free, without my parents fear of getting kidnapped. This reminded me of that. I made sugar cookies (an endeavor I have vowed I will not do again) and my favorite Texas Sheet Cake. Jackson "helped" me with the sugar cookies and Brian and I frosted them after the kids had gone down. We decorated Easter eggs, had crepes for breakfast, and attempted an Easter egg hunt. Jackson was just not getting it though, I think he was just wondering why I was putting the eggs he had just decorated around the house. Maybe next year...
